My guess would be changes in the input cap and also in the Baxandall. Diodes could be anything. Germs might sound cool with bass.

Try increasing the input cap to either 100n or 220n. For the caps on the bass control, 68-100n, and the treble control, 10-15n. Maybe two 1n34a's in series on each side for the clipping diodes.

I was wondering what it really was :hmmm:

My guess for the treble cap is in the 10n region too. For the diodes I was thinking they are either removed or replaced by something along the lines of LEDs, MOSFETs, perhaps a combination with a silicon. Slightly harder clipping but more clean headroom.

The tone control bass frequencies are already fairly low. With the 10n cap the tone control isn't too far of the tech 21 stuff in normal use.

Hi guys, I'm trying to fit the RC inside a preamp I'm building and i was wondering if i can take the baxandall and the output buffer out and get away with it. I would not miss the EQ and the output would go directly to the tube so...do you think is possible?

I finally got the figure of the PCB with the chip not shaved.

I could cut down from 6 to 4 diodes and make a real clean bass bost perhaps... :hmmm:

Can the Rc Booster work as a classic buffer if positioned at the start of the chain ?

I can't see why not. If you just need a buffer something simpler might be more effective (and less noisy).

okay. please dont laugh....

i etched this attached layout and did it backwards. This means everything is in mirror image as the traces are actually on the wrong side of the PCB... hope that makes sense. what is the best way to build this board out so that I don't waste it? I have the op amp on the trace side of the board to make the pins hi the correct traces but its still not working?

And how does it sound ? What amp are you using it on ?

I heard it being used on a De luxe rev and was impressed !

Hi Everyone,

I'm quite new to the opamp/TS-concept so maybe this might be a silly question: I recently finished my RC (on a breadboard, so its somewhat more prone to bugs) and it shows quite a lot of hum, which disappears when touching the strings or some other mass point. I'm just curious whether that is normal for the RC cause I've heard that it is especially silent!? Also, it doesn't really give me that much of a loudness boost, so for me it seems that there's something wrong.

IC is TL072, diodes 1N4148, transistors are BC549, mojo-resistor is metal though :), offboard-wiring is standard with 3pdt from tonepad. I checked the wiring more than twice, everything seems to be allright :(

Any ideas...?
Christian

More likely, your guitar is not grounded properly. See if the guitar's bridge is electrically connected to the ground.

I can verify that MadBeans circuit works. I built one and it worked first time lucky me I guess. I'm sorry I can't help with the trouble-shooting process as I'm a paint by numbers sort of guy at the moment but the guys here are excellent with that sort of thing, so I'm sure you will be up and running in no time. What I can offer is "check, recheck and then check your recheck". :hmmm:
Good luck Mike
