I recommend it for the bass response. Worth the $4,300 price tag in my opinion.

Yet another stunning example of a booteeker ripping off a comercial design and spinning some mojo web around it.

That thing sounds exactly like the DOD American Metal Pedal I had back in the '80s

Scott

You can totally mod an American Metal into a Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal - they're practically the same circuit anyway. An absolute essential for that old-timey Godflesh tone!

Oh, and the trick to getting the American Metal to not sound like a thin and tinny is to keep the "Presence" control set very low - like in the lower 25% of it's range.... then it gets alot of low-end. Or, just mod it to be like the HM-2 and you can turn the bass up all the way on it's own. Stock, it has the bass and treble tied together in a not-cool way.

It's also totally stupid and wrong that I chose to devote this much time and research into modding a cheap-o DOD pedal to be like a kinda lame BOSS pedal, but that's beside the point. What's important is that I was able to easily improve it's sound and I like it better now. And I'm way into that shitty Godflesh tone from 1991.

The Volnott is awesome! I too, have recently been inspired by the Black Metal scene to do some different things......

couldn't get over how good it sounded on bass - pity it's so expensive
