yes it starves the supply to the CMOS
it makes the pedal very flexible.

IC4069 makes too much noise on the max distortion.

Is there a design solution for this IC
or there is a alternative IC for reducing noises ?

you gonna have to ask the pros and i ain't one
my clone is not noisy at all and i'm using 4069.
i'm using shielded cables though.
it is really dark sounding but that could be due to the tiny and long wires i used.

Short answer: no.
Longer answer: the noise is inherent to CMOS technology. Apparently, there are quieter 4069s out there, but they're not really quiet, only more quiet or somewhat quiet. And they have a different sound, too.
One thing you can do is to squeeze the highs out of the circuit, like TubeHugger did. Actually, Reeza is not supposed to be dark. If it is dark, the capacitors are bigger than they should be. Mine sounded dark until I discovered one of the tone caps being 100n instead of 100p ( , I know).
@TubeHuger: wire connections in a pedal are too short to have a significant effect on tone.

Another thing you can do is to decrease the gain of the inverter stages and insert before each one a quieter gain stage.
Actually, it would solve nothing. It would be better to use reduced gain inverters at the end of the gain stages chain.

that was it!
i had 10nf going to the bass control instead of 6.8nf!
when i built it i was missing one 6.8,i said to myself, what are a few nanofarads between friends
i changed it to 4.7(6.8 was also too much) instead of 10 and bam!
the pedal became alive!!!
output is as it supposed to be.
gain is insane!!
thank you :thumbsup

Sorry for the necro...

So I built this monster! Thank you for layout thn!!

Here it is (sorry for these crappy photos), I don't get along with hard-to-spell names, so i had to came up with one easy to remember...

Image

Guts shot. Sorry for the out-of-focus shot. But you get it: it's a mess. Well, I did my best...
Image

Better photo....

Now for some considerations:
- This is one of the best (if not the better) sounding hi-gain pedal I have ever heard!
- It's noisy with the gain knob past 30%.

So the noise "problem". As you can see I own a original Reeza. Comparing the original with my build, the original is much, MUCH, quiter.
I didn't take any gutshot of the original Reeza because... it's all goop! Goop all over the godamn circuit.... I still would love to know what kind of "magic" they did to reduce this noise.
I was considering swaping the IC. Also changing those blue 6n8 and pF caps to something better, like polypropylen and mica, maybe... I really don't know...
Could it also be that the ground plane on the original's PCB?

Food for thought... any suggestion guys?

Maybe this will be of some help: CMOS inverters noise reduction.

Also, this is a comparison I made between three ICs. I'm sure that the guys at Emma found a quieter 4069 and made a stash of it.

Hi,

in my experience 4069 made by NXP (former Phillips) were much quieter than the ones made by ST.

Cheers

Ok, so I just bought some mica caps to change those ceramic pF around the IC. I don't know if ti will make a difference, but whatever... just a couple of € won't hurt...
Also bought a lot x10 of Philips 4069UBE (https://www.ebay.com/itm/321449592271).

Let's see the results when they get here....

:hmmm: those phillips 4069 are realy old... Had some bad experience with some 4024 from that production period.

hmmm..... think Ill wait for those Philips to try them out. If that doesn't work better than what I already have, then.... NXP I go.

I know mouser has these pretty cheap and good to stock up on other components so the shipping does not hurt...

I live about 20 miles away or so from mouser's warehouse so that is my 1st go to place unless ebay is cheaper... hehee

Hi, Guys.

I Builded Emma Reeza FRATzitz (Modified version with additional Bass and Mids controls)
http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.jp/2012 ... z-rf1.html
It's my reeza
It's my reeza
Is Reeza Noisy? Let's change the 4049.

I was validated.

CD4069 (Fairchild)
TC4069(Toshiba)
HEF4069(NXP)

: Noise (Noizy <> good)
CD4069 < HEF4069 <TC4069

: Sound (Fat/Warm <> Sharp/Bright)
CD4069 <TC4069 < HEF4069

I think, TC4069 is BEST!

:Compare the 4069!(SoundCloud)

SETTING
LEVEL ,GAIN ,MID BASS :0 O'clock
TONE : FULL UP

:attention
If you use "Guitar FX Layout's Layout",This is not same Schematic.
Schematic is used two 120R s.
"Guitar FX Layout's Layout" use one 120R.

I attached my eagle files, for anyone interested. Not the best pcb I've done, but it works.
