Wampler - Cranked AC

i found the schemo in the instructions at the toneclone kit site. it uses parallel JFETs in all of the gain stages which is pretty interesting. i don't think i've seen that anywhere else before. i've heard good things about this pedal, i may have to give it a try. incidentally, i think the the pcb's are around 6 bucks a piece which isn't half bad. a decent option for a printed board.
here's a link to download the instructions which has the schematic contained inside. maybe i'll recopy it if i'm not too lazy so we can get it attached to the forum.

For $6, I'd just buy the PCB. That's a very fair price, and the boards look pretty nice. (< hey, that rhymes!)

yeah man. nice fabbed board, dirt cheap. one question though. is this brian's company? i know he had some problems with some other guys, and if this were them, i might just have to hold off on the purchase.

No I believe they're not associated any more.
The other pedals are clones, but strange that they're still selling his design unless they were involved in developing it or a deal was done.

I'd buy a few of the PCBs but $21 postage is taking the piss

well i did not see the shipping. i can safely say i won't be ordering any pcb's. for both reasons.

Is that single sized PCB? If so, it should be finished soon... I think Brian Wampler said in other topic that he had some issues with them, if that is true, and he see no problem, I'll post the PCB here

Shit, now I see it's not single sized

Too bad...there's no clear shot of 2nd pcb layer inside project file.

if i get some time, i'll try and draw one up.

That would be cool, specially if it would be a single layer.

That's why they are cheap! That price is misleading! Part of it is included in the shipping costs!

I wouldn't mind paying it if that was what the postage cost, but I've had a Priority Flat Rate Envelope with about 2lbs of resistors in it from the US and it was $11.95 as long as they fit in the box. You could get hundreds of PCBs in one.

i did up the pcb. if someone could look over the schematic that would be great. and if anyone wants to try and verify this thing, go for it. it's been checked in eagle, so it should be good.

Hey, in the schematic inside the PDF, what's up with the "Omit C12"? Does sticking something else in there make this one into a different Wampler pedal?

i doubt it. it probably is just part of an earlier revision. i would think that the cap in question could add too much gain or could cause oscillation without some sort of compensation capacitor.

I'm sorry if it is a n00b question, but: what should be the effect of using two fet in parallel?
Thanks

Cool, thanks. Off topic but, any chance of getting a layout for the Noble odr from the tone clone site? I have'nt seen one anywhere.
