Xotic - BB+
There is a shcem for an Xotic BB preamp. Is that not the same thing? My apologies for trying to be helpful.telefone wrote:Right, and this isn't one of them, so your point is?AL wrote:telefone,

No, it's not the same thing. The BB+ has 2 channels and you can switch the order of them. The 2 channels are different than the original BB preamp (so I don't really understand the similar naming). There doesn't seem to be much interest in it.AL wrote:There is a shcem for an Xotic BB preamp. Is that not the same thing? maybe you can be the firsttelefone wrote:anybody trace one yet
I wonder why they had to use 2 separate boards or just use a multilayer PCB. This seems more inefficient.

I quickly analyzed the pictures and does not seem to be so. Channel A has uno green LED + 2 diodes (one black like a 1N4001 and one ike a 1N914 but blue ). Channel B has 2 blue diodes and 2 black diodes.telefone wrote:anybody trace one yet? Looks like the 'A' channel uses a single green LED and the 'B' channel uses a single 2N7000 for distortion 'color'.
Someone knows more exactly the diodes used? I'm interested to a clone of this thing

Blue diodes may indicate that they are Schottky barrier diodes. If you can get a number off of their bodies, you'll be good to go.YuGi wrote:one ike a 1N914 but blue ). Channel B has 2 blue diodes and 2 black diodes.

I find this photo on the net, unfortunately, only about A channelMoonWatcher wrote:Blue diodes may indicate that they are Schottky barrier diodes. If you can get a number off of their bodies, you'll be good to go.YuGi wrote:one ike a 1N914 but blue ). Channel B has 2 blue diodes and 2 black diodes.

So I think the black diode is a 1N4005 , the blue one may be also a zener, but what means 46?

That is definitely a different combo, a silicon/schottky against a green led.
B channel is probably silicon/schottky against silicon/schottky.

in the channal B circuit there is a transistor in series with the diodes (it seems that only pin 1 and 3 are connected).. maybe the 2N7000 mentioned by telefone?YuGi wrote:Mike31 wrote:Probably a BAT46 which is a Schottky.

Then the branchs are:
- 1N4005 - BAT46 -
- BAT46 - 1N4005 - 2N7000 -

That would be my guess also.YuGi wrote:in the channal B circuit there is a transistor in series with the diodes (it seems that only pin 1 and 3 are connected).. maybe the 2N7000 mentioned by telefone?YuGi wrote:Mike31 wrote:Probably a BAT46 which is a Schottky.

I wonder what was crossing their minds when they decided to put schottky, 1n and a mosfet together

Does anyone own one of these or have any more gut shots? We have some part values to find

bumpty bump I hope someone responds to this I'm keen as to make this one.
