Oh, interesting, you should definitely post some pictures and the schematic. I haven't seen that one yet.

WEM used the large Pep Rush enclosure for a couple of things. There was also a Project V (8 transistor circuit :shock: ): http://stompboxes.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1083

Graham might be very interested in your pedal. I don't think he has a Project IV yet..

I was (and still vaguely am) in contact with Pep Rush - he confirmed that he made the red Fuzzy pedal, but the chronology is definitely strangel. I was going to meet up with him to find out what happened with WEM etc, but I think he was miffed with me as I was in the process of making a couple of clones of it for an Animals tribute band in the US. The meeting didn't get organised and the 2 Animals guys disappeared too...

I'm still lusting after that project v. I've pretty much given up on ever having a look, though. :roll:

I have a WEM Project IV here somewhere - I'll have to dig it out (it's buried in the cellar with a load of other junk). +1 for Project IV schematic!

I'm really beyond interested in seeing a Project V schematic (maybe I'll see it in my lifetime...), even some clips would be great. To have the IV excites me muchly.

From what I've read, the V is likely Eno's stupendous "Warm Jets" fuzz - would be brilliant to hear one without all the multi-tracking. The thread at DAM speculates that the V has an octave-up generating pair of BC108s in face-off full-wave rectification mode (a-la Univox Super-Fuzz), which isn't too apparent on any of the early 70s Eno that I've heard. Looking at the gutshots, it seems entirely plausible.

you got a link to that thread? has more info been released? I could definitely hear that sound in "Baby's On Fire". fucking love that record, and still lusting after that V! as far as the differential amp goes, it sounds plausible. aren't there 8 transistors?

I'm somewhat gutted that the V was never properly in production (according to Graham in that thread), and would explain why I've never seen one come up for sale. Brad Creepyfingers is on there too, and he knows a thing or two about differential amps...

The fast Frippy solo bit in "Baby's On Fire" indeed sounds a bit squeaky-upper-octave. I read the Eno bio a couple of years ago and he mentions that most of his 70s guitar stuff that he himself played is a knackered old Starway (I think he's holding it in the inside photos in the 1st Roxy LP) and the Project V. The double-tracked fuzz sound on his mid-70s stuff with Cluster is one of the most comforting sounds there is.

God, I want a Project V.
