Hi,
Has anyone ever bought stuff from Tayda electronics? I am just a little leary of buying stuff from offshore. Are they a safe supplier as far as security/personal information goes?

I've ordered from them several times w/o any trouble at all. They also have an ebay store and a domestic (US) website that ships from Massachusetts, I think.

I've used them many times. Excellent. And you can pay with paypal without registering an account with Tayda - very safe.

They're really good. Their delivery times can sometimes vary, but their prices are exceptionally good. You can buy from them with confidence!

I've bought from Tayda many times, and every time it's been perfect. I use PayPal too, so no worries about sensitive financial information getting stolen (at least via the transaction!).

I made some suggestions for new parts and they really stocked them. At least some of them...

Still missing:

- 2pdt footswitches
- complete series of 16mm alpha pots for screw on knobs
...and more knobs
- higher quality jacks, maybe Rean
- more LED colors
- would be great if they would stock the complete E24 series of 1/4w metal film resistors
- 1590B enclosures and the mini switches ("toggle") are too expensive.

More enclosures would be great, but I love those guys. Never had a Problem with ´em

Why more enclosures? If you have to pay import sales tax and customs duty, they are to expensive anyway. I buy the enclosures in a local store, because I want to see what I get - the surfaces even of two pieces of the same manufacturer can look very different...

Lucky you that have locally available enclosures.
Here in Argentina there aren't any aluminium cast enclosures, when there are (locally made) they're awfull. What's available here is ugly and expensive. I buy from Tayda, and even with shipping and (eventually) customs taxes, is cheaper (and better) to what I get here.

I'm in Australia and I get most of my stuff from Tayda. Delivery takes about 10 days. I also get stuff from Futurlec but your order can be shipped from anywhere in the world which skews delivery time dramatically.

I've never paid customs on an order. I can't promise you won't if you spend more than £18 worth of dollars.

i'm wondering, as the split top 6mm pots at tayda are pretty cheap, which kind of knobs work on those? only push on right? and where to get those? that's the only thing that's still holding me back from ordering them. I'm certainly not gonna use the ugly knobs they have in stock.

yupp. Sometimes I put a little piece of wood in the shaft, so that the screw can't bend one half of the shaft out of shape, but it's not really needed.

yeah but i've noticed with knobs i have that are a little bit wider than the regular 6.3mm that they go slightly sideways as their turned (they are not centered to the axis). It's probably not that big a deal but i looked a bit ugly. I'll just try and order them. They are way cheap.

They have some nice Davies rip offs on there.
With screw fit knobs, I shrinkwrap the shaft and then the knobs fit nicely.

For the majority of stuff I use the split serrated shafts and either this, or putting somerhing between the split makes them entirely useable.
The little tab you break off makes an excellent bit to put between the shaft, for instance.

I made my first order with Tayda today, lets see how it goes!
