Definitely and ...
I don't know how old he was, but this quote by Amadou Hampaté-Ba is emerging in my mind : "In Africa, an old man's death is like a library that's burning"...
Thanks for all the knowledge you spread, Peter. My respect to the family too...

I noticed he hadn't posted in some time, and i always enjoyed his posts. The library is awesome. Does anyone know when he passed?
Condolences to his family.

R.I.P. indeed. A great contributor with none of the condescending attitude or arrogance that often comes with that territory. He seemed very genuine. My condolences to those who knew him personally.

Not only he was a genuine person, but humble, respectful, experienced in more than one area of expertize, willing to share and from my personal experience eager to help and give. I know that many here doesn't know, but he was a great and respected luthier and expert in repairing and building custom guitars.
Real professional with years of experience. So if anyone is interested in some of his work they can see few of the public galleries he put sometime ago.
I know he want mind sharing it here.
With respect and deep sorrow...we will miss you Pete!

I'm sad to read this.
I never spoke with SPeter directly - but I considered him to be a nice fellow from his posts and an answer he gave to a question I posted once. I don't know why, but I (unthinkingly) had the impression he was a young bloke - probably as he came across as affable and cheery. The kind of person that it's a pleasure to encounter not just online, but in life in general.

I don't know what to say...
I spoke to him over Skype chat more than a number of times - until quite some time ago. He was already at that point uploading loads on freeshare servers, maybe he knew somehow. He will always be with us and be remembered. The library testifies to this guys greatness and unselfishness. He was a civil engineer - but he chose to build guitars - these pictures are telling ...

Wow, cant believe this news! It is very sad to hear. He did post a lot of interesting books and it was his contributions that brought about the library section. a lot of great info in that section. There was a library in college that was named after a person. Maybe it would be fitting to rename the library section to "The SPeter Public Library"?

Always sad when a well respected member of a community passes, although I've never interacted with him.
