Don't you guys study anything!!??
The OD850 is identical to the OD9 as a successor and a Big muff variation on itself
Service junk can be found here (among other places) where it has been over the last 2 friggin' years:

Yee _______ haw ! Did I EVER ask what it was ? No. I simply posted gut shots.Dirk_Hendrik wrote:Jaysus

you act like posting gut shots, something which is done with extreme regularity, is a BAD thing !
You better go ridicule everyone who posted pictures of EH Muff Fuzzes, MXR pedals, etc, etc...as we KNOW what all those are...
Next time you get ______ bored with the gut shots that somebody goes to the effort of posting....don't ______ look...or at least don't waste your precious time by commenting.
PS: Have a nice day !

No problem. I have the flu right now, so I'm a bit "trigger happy" as well.

I have an OD850 and an OD9 and they look nearly identical inside.Dirk_Hendrik wrote:Jaysus

They are. I've got a few suspicions but was (and probably will never be) able to get em for a fact. I wrote that stuff here:Professor SourTone wrote:I have an OD850 and an OD9 and they look nearly identical inside.Dirk_Hendrik wrote:Jaysus

Scroll down to the OD9 part
And I am interested in the results of your verification. Other than that, the fact that you do own a OD9 makes you a lucky man already!
Andrew,
Thanks! Take it easy and get well soon

There's this one which I believe is the first -
The second?
The third?
I think AG's OD-850 corresponds to the first version and then I have another OD-850 schematic that looks factory. Are 2 and 3 the same internally? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

My schematic is for the version 1.
The factory schematic is for version 3.
The only information I have for version 2 are the bad pictures below.

I spent yesterday afternoon scouring the 'net for OD-850's. The easiest and most common found was the first version. I found one second version for $650 and a few third versions that were sold but still listed on the host site. Matsumin has a DIY 3rd version that can be found here if anyone is interested.
After reading Dirk's article I searched for OD-9's but came up empty handed.

Why doing a DIY project to build a big muff and then calling it a OD850?
Easier is to score a good old SF5 or FZ5 Ibanez Sixties Fuzz and convert it to "OD850 specs". That's about one hour's work.
And indeed, scoring a OD9 for an affordable price... is nearly impossible. I have a full OD9/OD850 PCB layout rework ready which I can post tomorrow. Score a TS and replace the guts.

I got a chance today to play an OD-850 side by side with an OD-9. To my ears the difference were so minimal that I wouldn't seek out an OD-9 unless I had a nine series fetish and had to fill the spot. Both were essentially Big Muffs that were slightly more controlled sounding. I actually preferred the OD-850 as it seemed to tighten up slightly better at lower gain settings and seemed to cover fuzz as well as Muff sounds if that makes any sense. Sadly, no mojo to be found.
