Oh, I did not add the whole switching bit as that is the same as in all these small Danelectro pedals........ Guess it would be online somewhere

Thanks Bernard, is VR102 a trimmer? What does it do?

Yep!

I think it sets the range of the transistor

I would suggest: a clone of the EH Doctor Q....

Thanks for the layout guys, built it, one of the ranges sound incredible, the others volume is lower but actually still sounds good. Huge pop to maybe add a pull down to the layout?

Change R112 to 1M to ground..... the 100k to Vref is left over from the switching which is done on the main board and has no real function here!!

Something's off, the volume of the effect is not right, and in High range it's really bad :(

These units have a volume issue..........

Oh well that makes sense :applause:

I cant seem to figure out which value to tweak to raise it up. THe Low side needs a small bump, and the high side needs some serious help. Tonally this thing sounds REALLY GOOD. Any thoughts on that?

Oh yes... my thought:
Did you ever have a look at the Electro-Harmonix Doctor Q schematic ?

A buffer in front of my FF vero build dramatically improves both low and hi options. In tone and volume, just better general response. I'm still getting nice POW when engaged, it's the only pedal I've built that doubles as a bass kick.

Hi there,

Bernard, can you confirm that the resistors labeled R109 and R111 really are of 4K7 in your unit ??

I'm asking this due all diagrams related EH Dr Q indicates 47K at these two positions and may be the cause of the loss in volume that guycapuano reports.

Cheers,
Jose

Ouch, true, those resisors were 47k; the orange band really looks red but measured they all make 47k!

[updated scheme below]

Folks, please send me some gratitude. (I'm somewhat low self-esteem these days and if you do click some thumbs up would help me a lot... )

Guycapuano: please tell us when you replace this couple of resistors to know if this solve your volume issue.

Also, make an input buffer to avoid load your guitar (in case you plug it directly to this pedal), can be useful.

Look at this diagram and place a fet and some resistors and tell us what happens: http://www.muzique.com/schem/quack.gif

Cheers,
Jose

And make R103 also 47k; I thought I checked em all but when compared to the 'original' schematic this error appeared!!
