Whoooooops, something's wrong with my software. Changing the resistor default package seems to affect the component value. :slap:

Anyway, here's the correct resistor value. Perhaps someone is kind enough to fix the previous scheme, an easy work in GIMP. :block:

Code: Select all

R1, R36 ---------- 1k5
R2, R11 ---------- 100
R3 ---------- 19k
R4, R39 ---------- 470
R5, R29 ---------- 390
R6, R38 ---------- 2k2
R7, R13, R16, R21, R22, R30 ---------- 33k
R8, R37 ---------- 69k
R9, R18-R20 ---------- 10k
R10, R34 ---------- 5k1
R12, R26 ---------- 10
R14, R28 ---------- 47k
R15, R27 ---------- 3k3
R17 ---------- 150
R23 ---------- 4k7
R24, R31-R33, R40, R41 ---------- 100k
R25 ---------- 1M
R42 ---------- 150k
Had just finished a double sided layout for 1590B enclosure if anyone interested (a bit cramp). I haven't build it myself. Maybe in a week or two.

TGP crowd says it nails "that Klon tone". :hmmm:
Anybody recognized the similarities of the OD-section with a..... Timmy (and the Lovepedal OD11) ?

Not really. The curve control is different from the bass control of the Timmy. Not close in min/max range of gain. Has a buffer for the 2nd stage instad of a gain stage...

Mr Huge actually put some thought into this. It's more than just a taper difference...

PL has a lower clipping level, much lower gain though.
i find the curve control really muddied up the sound, you have to blend the clean stage in about 1:1 to get it a bit clear.

havent had a chance to build that board. since it utilizes 9mm pot which actually hard to find here :slap:
so i made a second attempt on my layout. the goal is to fit it in 1590bb, utilizing board mounted pots + toggle switch. lot of jumpers to keep it single-sided.

here's the composite.

Can someone explain all the purpose of the clean path ? Seem really complex for a "simple" clean path .

It'd be great if Mr huge could explain what was his idea .

its not meant to be a simple clean path, but rather a preamped/filtered path. I've not played it, but My impression is that it might have a little grit to it.

I can comfirm that changing C11=56nF to 22nF add a bit more high end to the drive.
Very easy mod and work better with a bass guitar.

just a little FUI, the two discrete stages in the clean side of the Pork Loin are similar to the BA283 stage that were used in Neve designs such as the 1073.

I have one of these now, and its really a nice unit after some trimmer tweaking.

IvIark drew up a vero for this and it matches the posted schematic perfectly (with all of the later posted 'correct' resistor values) so I built it. it doesn't sound like the original pedal at all (this one is extremely muddy, has low output, is noisey (hiss) and is even lacking mids).
I found the original to be a little dark, but nothing like the posted schematic came out.
unfortunately, I sold my original PL about 8 months ago, so I can't use one to verify everything (caps, resistor values and traces).
I tried quite a few things but to no avail. I really do appreciate the posting of the schematic, and it seems to be 95% correct, but IMO, there must be several errors in it to sound the way that it does.
if anyone has any more info on it, it would be greatly appreciated.

well, since no one has replied, I just bought another one for analysis. it should be here next week so hopefully I can get to the bottom of what the problem with the posted schematic is.
