Hi. I have an old kasino amplifier that used to be my favorite amp until a part went bad. The part looks like a germanium transistor, and has the number 61008 printed on it. It appears they used it as a diode. My question is this. What can I use as a replacement? I'd really like to get this one working again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Not sure, if you could post a schematic diagram that would help a lot...... :thumbsup

I never could find a schematic for it.

This amp really sounded great when it was working. I got it for $40 at a pawn shop and used it for 9 months, then that part blew out and I had to switch back to my sears amp. I'm pretty sure the part in question was a PNP germanium transistor. It only had two leads, though.

Clear photos would be helpful, both sides of the PCB, and especially of the part that you think is faulty.

Edit - You will probably find one of these is very similar to your schematic.

Then it isn't a transistor.

U100... Isn't that the "Club", right? You know that Kasino amps are largely just Kustom amps in different cosmetic appearance. They recycle largely the same PC board modules. Club, according to my references, holds PC105 (preamp), PC803 (reverb & f/s control) and PC900 (power amp & +/- 8VDC regulators).

You can verify pretty easily what board numbers are of interest.

I can find a crossreference to 61088, which is a 1N3754 diode, but not a reference to 61008.

Yes it is the club model. I will try to get some pics of the board when I can. As for the part in question, I lost it. It broke right off the board and pretty much fell apart. It had some kind of fluid leaking out of it prior to this. I tried, but never could find much information on this amp.

Hello. I wanted to let all of you know the amp is working again, and I've been using it for over 20 days. I'm currently working on a tremolo pedal to use with it. Turns out some of those old solder joints had lost contact, which is what led to the failure. Thank you all very much. I do have one more question about the amp. what type of monitor does it use? there's a jack on it that's labeled " monitor". I.never knew why it was there.
