If you can take some measurements (voltages, chassis) and decent photos I can do replica layout/service notes for one. I would love to do something different for a change

Somehow I dont think that the ole' picture of the obvious "enslaved" african american in an ad for a "Freedom" amp would fly in today's PC advertising world!
Also... Why the lefty guitar in one pic and a righty in the other? Image mirroring??

I worked on one of these a few years back and had a schematic but will have to dig it out.
Why the amp sounded so good came down to the transistors used.
they were same transistors used in vintage fuzz boxes that fetch so much dough.

Nonsense. It sounds good because of the use of a Celestion speaker in a well-designed cabinet. The power amplifier circuit is just a standard, nasty, Class B circuit. The pre-amp has some smart value choices to tweak the frequency response to handle the 'speaker. A better (and more reliable) version of this uses the LM3886 IC for about 50 Watts output. The sound is just the same (maybe a bit louder) but the output stage doesn't fry itself into a wreck of destroyed transistors and burnt-out resistors!GBlekas wrote:I worked on one of these a few years back and had a schematic but will have to dig it out.
