Lovepedal Champ [traced]
Hi All
After years of being on this pedal forum among others, I finally have something to repay the favour. It's not the most technical but I'm pretty sure the Lovepedal Champ hasn't been posted up here yet.
Q1:2N5088
D1+D2: 1N34A
POT (Volume): B100K
Electro x2: 47uF
C1: 47n?
C2: 0.1uF
R1: 1M
R2: 3.3K
R3: 2.2M
R4: 330ohm
R5: 4.7K
R6: 330ohm
Looks a lot like a Woodrow with a couple of extra resistors. Not sure what is going on with R4 and R6 but someone will probably be able to sketch that out. Sounds better than a Woodrow however, probably due to the diodes. Not a lot of grunt but not bad tone considering.
Enjoy!

LMAO of course it is
Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.

I think you've pretty much nailed it Dingleberry except for the 2M2 which from looking at it appears to be the standard Electra / Woodrow deal. I'm thinking it's this. Thanks for your help!Dingleberry wrote:I think this could be it.

Oh, I totally forgot to draw the 2M2 resistor... Thank's for correction chumbox!

I have a bunch of 1N34A's in the same package.HEAD wrote:Is it only me or do the diodes look suspiciously small in package for a Ge 1N34A?
The television will not be revolutionized.
Probably a fair comment though since the B100K is listed as 1KB on the board. I feel this board is used for a couple of different Lovepedal designs.HEAD wrote:Is it only me or do the diodes look suspiciously small in package for a Ge 1N34A?
I'll try and work out exactly what the input cap is and then I think we might be able to call this done.

I thought that too! At first glance they looked very 1N4148 / 1N914 to me and knowing lovepedal, the same board is probably used in multiple designs.HEAD wrote:Is it only me or do the diodes look suspiciously small in package for a Ge 1N34A?
After a bit of googling I found out that at least some chinese suppliers are selling 1N34A's in that kind of (DO-35) package.
Always something to learn.
Simplify before you amplify.
Alright pullled it open again and the mystery cap is 22n. I also took a pic of the transistor as I neglected to do that earlier. I can't see any writing on the diodes but I'm pretty confident they are 1N34A by the sound. If everyone is happy with that then I think this is pretty much done? Still enjoying the tones I must say but I'm a one knob, one transistor kind of guy.

Hi
Maybe you can try to measure de diodes with a DMM, if this is in the 650mV range it will be silicon, and if its in the 250mV range it's probably germanium.
However I have some 1N34A in DO35 package but with a green mark for the cathode pin, not black as on the 1N914 or 1N4148.
Anyway thanks for the pictures!

That was what I was thinking. Most of the LP designs are Electra OD derivates. So the might use the same PCB layout with different components for the different flavor Electras so the labeling must not be congruent with the actually used parts. But I haven't been aware of 1N34A in a DO35 package so far. Only knew there are some 1N60s out there which also came in a DO35 package.chumbox wrote:Probably a fair comment though since the B100K is listed as 1KB on the board. [...].
Just measured both diodes and got 262mV for one and 245mV for the other. Does this confirm they are germanium?Zokk wrote:Hi

No it does not. Schottky diodes have similar voltage drops.chumbox wrote:

Hi, I'm currently working on a project at my university where I'm supposed to compare this pedal with a Fender Champ clone I built earlier during the year. I'm fairly new to this, so I was wondering if anyone could help me with my schematic?
