It should be louder than a lm386, a full 1 watt
And being a little little more skilled now, I suspect that a buffer in front of it can only give better results.

Well, if you can find a tda 7052, it will be uber simple to check on the breadboard....
I made two actually, and both worked fine (for a 1W amp of course). One went to my bass player and the second became a ruby: the tda is much cleaner and so it is best for bass (expecially for kitchen table jams), the ruby has a nice overdrive when you push it.
Maybe a cleaner amp is somewhat better to test amps....

Exactly. This was my plan too. I built a SBEQ in front of the Tiny Giant in the same 1590BB enclosure. Now it belongs to a bass player friend of mine as I still did not like it.



Perhaps I should have experimented with cab sims. But I lost interest and returned to building the usual dirt boxes
Tonight or on the weekend i think I'll experiment with the TDA7052 too as allesz got me excited.

Hi, i'm new on the forum (and on the DIY world).
I'm very interested in SS amps because I believe they provide a more, modular way of building your rig.
Explaining, with a TRANSPARENT power amp, such as an SS amp, one can build his own sound with preamps and FX so the power of the rig is completely independent.
Furthermore I believe that there is some way to emulate tube sound within human perception with SS components.

Some one care to comment?

Well even if you know little about electronics you are already ahead. So hold onto that thinking because even some experts still don't get that.
Most players (understandably) assume the mojo is in the OD/distortion circuitry.
OD/distortion is easy to make happen but it's only the tip of the iceberg as Tone shaping is the key and that is where you make or break a good sound.
That goes for glass bottles as well.

Why make life hard ?? Just gut a cheap little practice amp. They sell at junk sales for cheap.
Saves the cost of psu, chassis and speaker,,you may even get an opamp thrown in for free.

I actually like the pedals I build, and in no small part due to the fact that I built them rather than them sounding any better/worse than bought ones. similar logic would mean that we should just buy joyo pedals and stuff the DIY thing

also, where I live the junk sales start around 6am... to me there's only one 6 o'clock per day and it ain't the morning

One guy expresses an opinion in a casual, tongue-in-cheek manner while another receives it as a slap in the face.
My bet would be if the conversation was the same but done face to face, both parties would maintain the same

I have seen several devices for creating 20W, 30W, 40W, even 50W amplifiers over the years. All are similar to the ones
mentioned previously, only with higher voltages and currents and lots more heatsinking. Most of the ones that I can think
of were stereo units. The LM4700 is/was a 30 watt amp chip. I'm sure it's still available on ebay or elsewhere. Sanyo
used to make these types of amps. They were large and flat (made to be bolted to a heat sink), and the pins were made so
as to plug into an edge connector. I'm sure you can find such things if you search for them.

yup.. I only speak english and a lil "drunken bullshit" so am not sure what the notes in the PDF say (guessing it's german, but the hammer and sickle on the PCB suggest russian affiliation? .. stuffed if I know) but what I've discovered (after etching) is that the PCB is reversed

also.. the size seems incorrect for A4 printing (I resized it, but didn't realise it was mirrored until after I etched it).

just a note to anyone else wanting to make it..

will populate it anyway, and either solder the IC sockets to the solder side, or fold the ICs inside out.. that would make for hidden component values so that's gotta make it more mojo filled!
