Man... you guys are just too fast for me. I had already re-drawn the schematic for an AD-80 (with the intent of building one up) into Express SCH when this thread started. So I decided instead to draw up an Express PCB of the Aqua instead, but link it to the AD-80 schematic to see what the differences are (none, really, so far). I'm using the component designation from the AD-80 schem, but all of the values have been mostly the same to this point (other than some of the archaic parts in the AD-80).
I only got as far as the bottom part of the board last night, but I'll go ahead and finish now that Joe has so kindly posted the additional pics. Looks like you guys are going to get it done a lot faster than me, though!
Count me in on an order of pcb's if someone finishes before I do. I have a couple of MN3005's, but not sure of the quality or wheter they are genuine or not, so I'd also be interested in picking some up if a "mass" order is made.

anybody think it's a good idea to start a separate thread where we can sign up for buy ins? we could do it in poll form and have everybody that wants to sign up also post. that way there'll be an easy was to count the total and we know exactly who is in.

I've finished up what I can of the Express PCB file I started earlier, thanks to Joe's excellent pics.
Still may need some work - hopefully I'm not way off here....

Are you guys and gals ready for this
The Fantastic Way Huge Aqua Puss is (drum roll) ............................................................ A BOSS DM-2 clone without the fet switching and with true bypass switching. it has a 470p in parallel with a 1 Meg resistor from the input to ground added and two small resistor and 4 small capacitor changes. It uses a high spec OP275G dual op amp instead of the common 4558 used in the BOSS pedal. This is the first edition BOSS DM-2 not the one with the MN3205 chiop which is nowhere near as nice a sounding delay ( I have heard them side by side and the MN3005 one like the Aqua Puss has a much smoother sweeter and fruitier sound)
What a big f@$king let down - and please don't tell me the Aqua Puss sounds better than the DM-2 because of the extensive ground plane double sided PCB, because we are not dealing with radio frequency amplification here.
Well at least Mr Tripps didn't goop "his design".
cheers

Maybe the newer one (MN3205 chip) was broken or had an unselected BBD-chip ?This is the first edition BOSS DM-2 not the one with the MN3205 chip which is nowhere near as nice a sounding delay ( I have heard them side by side and the MN3005 one like the Aqua Puss has a much smoother sweeter and fruitier sound)
Did you verify the proper settings of the trimmers before A-B-ing ?

There´s a sucker born every minute - and too many of them end up in the bootweak pedal biz.

yeah that is kind of a let down, but i would still love a mn3005 delay. and this sounds like it is a good design.

No I did not - that is a good point.Did you verify the proper settings of the trimmers before A-B-ing ?
I will rework the board layout to accomodate the MN3205 and clock driver in the next few days /weeks etc.

2) It was going to be either the DM-2 or AD80. I think we were expecting that.
So did I buy the MN3005's for nothing?
