That is strange. I'll have to dig around for my notes but I'm certain that the VOX Deacy reissue uses those values from the hand drawn boost on the other page. When that amp first came out they claimed that they worked with the original and made an "exact copy" of May's treble boost (they could not state that about the amp because it's not an exact copy). I wonder if Cornish's values changed over the years and for what reason?

I don´t know....The values in my schematic are from an original Guild (factory) schematic.
When that amp first came out they claimed that they worked with the original and made an "exact copy" of May's treble boost (they could not state that about the amp because it's not an exact copy).
Why ? You should know by now that you can claim everything..... and that the truth is not revealed so fast, there exists: goop.

And the hand drawn schematic is the only one on the net which is known as the "May´s treble boost". How many people did have access to the Guild schematic when the cloners didn´t ?

So where is the risk ? In the meantime there are sold thousands of units and later you always can say: "Sorry, now we know better...but the unit we worked on, was exactly that....yes sorry, but now it is destroyed (or given back) and not longer available that we could proof this to you.."

Most important part is that you believed it before you bought it....

Really good points, but that May Boost schematic (hand drawn) that's been floating around the net had to come from somewhere?

Now I have to dig and find my notes!

:D

A contribution from Stan Cotey. This is reputed to be a tracing of the Real Thing.

The org. TB-83 has only one trannie in it, IMHO the schem from Analogguru looks more like the TB-83PLUS line driver.

Cornish wrote that there is a noise-reduction circuit in front of the TB-83.

It's good as a base so I will give it a try. I intend to split'l split it into the buffer- and the booster-section to be more flexible. There's nothing that cannot be modded to sound good...

To avoid confusions:

The posted schematic is not any "marketing story" about the same pcb-layout and components over the last 30 years for a gooped product which cannot be verified but should be sold today for approx. $300,-- ....

The posted schematic is the preamp/booster sold together with the second series of Guild´s "Red Special" Brian May Guitars in the 90´s.

The guitar and the preamp can be found here including guts:
http://www.hendrixguitars.com/Va0111.htm

The original schematic contains:

DSGN: PETE CORNISH

Yeah. I guess many perhaps think it should be pronounced "D.C", but it's probably "Deeky".

One of those guys is the one I was working with on the bosstone. That board shown is not mine though.

I think I may have pissed the guy off asking q's or maybe he noticed I posted about the bosstone, Oh well!
I'm sure if he was not already pissed at me he will be when he discovers I posted that link on a forum [smilie=a_chuckle.gif]

IMO the clip sounds great.
I wonder if they can make a consistant sounding product, matching GE's etc.
$899 is a bit steep but you get a FREE pedal with it

For the record, I would like to make it publicly known that I currently have no financial or other connections to Pedal Pushers or its owner(s). In the past some of my intellectual property was provided to them freely. I also do not anticipate having any future dealings with Pedal Pushers or its owner(s).

A standard transistor turntable/radio amplifier produced in millions on sale for $ 850,--  .... time for a (universal)-project.

Hi, I bought yesterday an old mid-sixties radio (5 bucks!). This was a quite common unit here in France (these were produced in Paris intra muros!).

I did easily find the appropriate schem, with hand written notes on it.
pizon3.jpg
It looks a lot like the above schematics (Roberts), and I did easily remove the trannies since those were socketed...

Here it goes:

1 Raytheon 2N271A / CK766A
2 Thomson 37T1
1 Thomson 991T1
2 Thomson 988T1
1 Thomson 909T1

As you can see on the schem, there are other names (equivalents?) for each one.

3 AF127
1 AC125
1 AC128
2 AC132

Are these real equivalents? Can I get some nice sound from them (using the output circuit)?

I'm really a beginner with old trannies, so any help would be great! Thanks...
- Are you a mod or a rocker?
- Uh, no, I'm a mocker.
