Like it's unconventional handle, the RF-1 is a unique type of OD/Distortion unit that stands out in an extremely crowded playing field. The RF-1 offers incredibly rich, full-bodied crunch that is so close to tube-amp overdrive that you''d be hard pressed to choose which was which. The secret to the RF-1's amazing tone lies in it's Bias control. This knob allows the user to morph between Class B and Class A biasing, altering the harmonic structure of the signal and providing a much wider variety of tonal options than your standard distortion. In Class B mode, the RF-1 exhibits a thick, chunky grind similar to a Marshall or Fender amp. Class A mode provides sweet, singing saturation worthy of the finest Vox AC30. The bias control is a pot with a series R in the bias divider. The circuit is based on the tube sound fuzz with an added BJT inputbuffer and a tone control.

WOW,thats no thin line between marshall and fender is it!
marshall and fender couldnt be more different amps so how does this explanation make any sense? it doesnt!

i dont know anything about emma effects but after a statement like the above i'm gonna have to find out!

Unless it is the Fender tweed bassman and Marshall JTM45 they are refering to :lol: . Certainly some similarities there at least :wink:

I always thought of a Vox as a cross between a Marshall and a Fender. :?

I've read somewhere that it's a modded red llama or craig anderton tube sound fuzz, but I've never seen a schem anywhere...
would be interesting to see one. that bias knob is intriguing...

i tried one a few years ago... i seem to recall it having a lot more gain than a TSF clone... and it didnt really sound like one either.

So this shoul be easy enough a 100ohm resistor in series with a 1K pot shoud do nicely and as far as
an added BJT inputbuffer and a tone control.
thats pretty simle stuff as well.
