I have been using the Fuzz Face circuit forever; it's my go to and solid favourite but I'd like something a little different - splatty, square wave, gated, nasty sounding and rich but not so thick that I can't use it for rhythm stuff - some of the square wave stuff I've done in the past has trouble cutting through a loud band mix and some of the really gnarly builds such as the Superfuzz have been a bit too cutting, so it has to be on balance. I've done the usual Tone Bender MKI and MKII, Supa Fuzz, Superfuzz, Foxx Tone Machine, various Muffs, the Meathead, various Fuzz Faces, Fuzz Factory etc etc. It doesn't matter how complex or simple the circuit is but I'd rather not have 10 knobs and 6 switches. It's for a band that is somewhere between 90's alternative and stoner rock. I play a Gibson Firebird with decent vintage style alnico pickups through a Super Lead and 4x12 - sometimes I think having the big 100w amp with all that headroom and not being able to use it fully cranked means I miss out on some of the juicy fuzz tones I am searching for..
