Do you guys know any uncommon guitar playing technique ?

Postby Orearrythe » 31 May 2016, 09:56

I'm working on a big school project with the goal of making a song with as many different guitar techniques as possible. My song already lasts 9 minutes so I obviously have a lot of them in it already and my research is going great but I just wanted to know if you guys could teach me something really uncommon that I could add to it, any suggestions?

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

An old trick for a bell sound is to lift one string over the top of another string with a finger nail (if you have a finger nail). Example, lift the G string and lift it over the D string so that they are crossed. The strings must be touching each other at the cross point, maybe around fret 7-9. Play the stings and let ring. You will get a bell tone. Michael Schenker used to do this. Not so much a technique than an effect.

Garry Moore slide harmonics is a great sound. Example is to hammer on and pull off on the A string 'fret 5 and open A' while sliding the edge of your right hand lightly down the string from the bridge towards the nut.
It's fairly straight forward, if you want to start it , press start. You can work out the rest of the controls for yourself !

No silicon heaven ? preposterous ! Where would all the calculators go ?

Hey guys, great thread, keep it going.
Please be aware that youtube formatting is fixed now, just select your link and click the 'youtube' button above the reply box.

It should look like this:
Code: Select all

and should show up like this:

Blind Connie Williams... making up chords on the spot as if it's a blues solo, playing inversion all over the fretboard in this (basically) three chord gospel tune. And, btw, he's tuned to open F...
