Hi, while building a CB clone, i needed to substitute an audio log pot for a reverse log pot, there was an instruction to wire the pot CCW to emulate the reverse log pot behaviour.

first of all is this true?

2nd, how do I go about doing this? I tried this as swapping the connections between pins 1 and 3, this only resulted in the knob sweeping backwards ie, for tone control it goes from treble to bass instead of the other way around.

as it is using the audio pot, only the last 25% of the rotation is actually usefull.

It is indeed, a log pot CCW wired gives a reverse log.

I don't really catch your second question though.
- Are you a mod or a rocker?
- Uh, no, I'm a mocker.

Well, you just did it :D . Inverting pin 1 and 3. The pot is a reverse log, but use use it reverse (CCW). t 8 o'clock, it's full, at 4 o'clock, it's null.

ok now Im really embarrassed  I think I tried this (for tone control) but the tone was going backwards now, at 8 o'clock its more treble, at 4 o'clock its more bass, i think its not supposed to do that or does it?

thanks so much lolbou

Okay:

A reversed wired (swap pin 1 and 3) log pot gives a "reversed" reverse log pot. It means it works as it should, but you have to turn the pot CCW to have the expected tone changes.

So it's normal to have this weird tone setting... :D

What's the value of this pot? Can't you find any where you live?

Don't feel embarassed or noob: there's no silly questions and no silly mistakes since both of them make us better.

Cheers!

ps: check this: http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/p ... tscret.htm

a-hah! so that was normal for that case ok now I get it.

I couldn't find any value of a reverse log pot here in manila. Theres this supplier in the Philippines (http://www.epektos.com) but they dont have the 10k Cpot I was looking for. They only have the 100K, 500K and 1M reverse logs. Oh well atleast now I know more...

many thanks lolbou
