One more of these often said to be similar to the KLON Centaur boxes

Seem to contain at least TL072 and a (ICL?) 7660 (probably for converting 9V -> ±9V )
and if I understand the japanese to english google translation correct there is also a stereo-pot that regulates both gain and blend in of clean at the same time.

NO GOOP - BUT - did you see what they have done to the mkt capacitors - looks like they ran a hot soldering iron over the printed values - they obviously do not know we have capacitance meters

Come on guys - give us a circuit tracks side photo

Things like this make me even more determined to find out what is going on in the Klon.

I wonder if Olaf has reversed one?

JHS. What are the differences in values between the Klon Schematic and the Cold Fusion?

Great, what sort of stuff is one there. It only shows up as question marks for me

Question marks? Sound like you need to download the Japanese character pack for your browser!
I was reading the page via a Babelfish translator, but I don't think it did a very good job of translation. There seems to be much discussion of a "Nine Dragon Semi-Animal", or something like that.... most of it turns out reading like the rants of a schizophrenic - but I think this is the fault of Babelfish not doing a good job translating.
I actually wouldn't be suprised if "semi-animal" is what Babelfish translates the Japanese word for Centaur into.....
Anyway, he does mention this forum as well as musikding and an Italian DIY site

I had a CF2 that I nosed in a little. I compared it soundwise to a Klon and it sounded nothing like it. Oddly enough it sounded 808ish but with more bass and gain thru my rig. The chips had the tops lightly sanded, from what I recall all were TL072. Could be wrong but that's what I remeber finding.

Hey Folks,

here are some pictures of the Banzai Cold Fusion, built by a German in a very delicate and nice boutiquish quality. The parts are modified so that it is unpossible to read the parameters. Sounds really good, against my self made Klon, pretty close, but it has more boost volume and sounds more balanced, not that slight mid boost character.

If there is something more, just ask.

It's a nice build quality, he's using Piher pots there I think, my favourite type!

Yes, they are Piher...the first time I see them probably, here in Germany "Alpha" are the most well known for quality...

Could anyone see if there is lot of a Klon in there? Or what is different? The thing is boosting waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy more...the loudest pedal I ever had. Until now I thought the OCD was loud, but this...damn.

The "skeleton" of the circuit is almost identical to the Klon, except nearly all the component values are different. It's an almost clone.

Just don't tell anyone at TGP.

Side note: those glass diodes on the right side of the board look COOL.

There is a schematic of this floating around. I got a copy of it from somewhere, but I won't post it without the owner's permission. Maybe he will post it here?

Hey SoulSonic,

if you mean me with "owner", just post it, I would be happy to see it! If you mean Mr. Banzai, I don't know if he is involved in here.

And to the previous post, why not at TGP? Do they tear their mouths and start philosophing?

I mean the owner of the schematic. I don't know if he wants it being posted or not, though I don't see how it cold hurt.

Whenever someone mentions something being a clone of a Klon Centaur over at TGP, everyone throws a fit and big fights ensue. I think it's very stupid. One time I suggested that maybe Klon should improve and modernize the Centaur to today's standards, and I got a "warning" from a moderator for saying "negative" things about it. They are completely unreasonable and childish about any discussion of it over there. All they do is worship Bill Finnegan as if he could do no wrong, and anyone who would dare build anything inspired by his "glorious invention" is nothing better than a criminal looking to do him personal ill.
