you know.. i like it enough to have it on my board, but i don't think it's anything special. It has a big tight bottom end that i like. As for cleaning up, it does do that but you would have to turn volume on the guitar way down.

@analogguru thanks for the info on the 386. I will have to read it when i have more time ;)

and you can make a ghostbox from LM386:

:!:  :o

I think certain boutique makers can identify with this thought process:
The randomly tuned radio modules provide a source of random audio which is sent to an enclosure that I called an echo box, for lack of a better name. The “idea” of the echo box was received by what I can only call telepathy, indicating to me there was at least some “outside” guidance in this system. The suggestion to use a box for the audio was received kind of like someone saying “look at that box” then having the idea to mount the speaker and mic inside it.
'The "idea" of the Clean Boost was received by what I can only call telepathy...The suggestion to use a box with a ridiculous paint job was received kind of like someone saying "look at that ugly box" then having the idea to mount a SHO circuit inside it.'

what ya mean by "top of pot" and "bottom of pot",
well - I aint referring to cannabis sativa
Seriously, there are 3 lugs on a single potentiometer (pot).
the middle lug on alpha pots (which most everybody uses) is the wiper.
when you turn the control fully anti-clockwise (rotate to the left) the wiper makes contact with the bottom lug of the pot
when you turn the control fully clockwise (rotate to the right) the wiper makes contact with the top lug of the pot
Hope this explains what is meant by the top and bottom of the pot

Unfortunately I no longer partake of the noble weed - but I still have plenty of THC left in my system - that's for sure

So much to the design-skills of Bootweaker Fran.

I see  then the 120k is the antenna
methinks it should be a lot closer to the input to block rf

The LM386 might be cheap, noisy and distorted, but it sounds pretty good in a ROG Ruby 1/2w amp into a good (thick sounding) guitar speaker. It sounds buzzy and harsh in headphones. :D

UPDATE AND CORRECTION - the dpdt relay used in the Peach Fuzz is a 5v NOT 9v type
My apologies for the error and any inconvenience

How good is battery life with one of these? That relay is a hog - it consumes 28mA.

I use batteries. I don't even put one of those stupid DC jacks on any pedals I build for myself. When I play out, I usually only use one or two pedals, so I don't mess with all those extra cables and outlets and all that other garbage that muck up the stage and get smashed and beer poured into, etc...
I just plug myself in and start playing - batteries make that a quick and easy process. Obviously Fran intended for people to use batteries with it considering the fact that it includes a battery snap.

i built my Peach fuzz without the relay - I have lots of those 3PDT blue footswitches - no clicks or pops either and still true bypass

I'm actually interested in the relay for a different pedal entirely. I'd like to work up a mod for doing a relay bypass on pedals like Boss and Ibanez. Dirk gave me the idea, when he complained about someone chopping up a Tubescreamer to put a 3PDT footswitch in.

I did some R&D on this very same idea a few years ago. I'll see if I can dig up my notes. A latching relay was the key to the current draw problem.

There´s a sucker born every minute - and too many of them end up in the bootweak pedal biz.

Yeah, I think a nice dual coil true latching would work as a great retrofit for those boxes that use the "soft switch" flip-flop circuits.

IMPORTANT UPDATE
The first dual opamp is NOT a TL022, it is definately a TLC (rail to rail opamp) NOT TLO, from the photos posted earlier in this thread. My guess is it is a TLC2262 device.
ALSO
There are 3 different types of LM386N power opamps: The LM386N-1, which is the one used in the Peach fuzz is a 6 volt device. The others are LM386N-3 whch is a 9 volt device and the LM386N-4 which is a 16 volt device.
Cheers
