Greetings...I'm one of those newly TGP Neanderthal exports that came since the Joyo Ultimate Drive thing came about. I like the Ultimate Drive alot...stock...anyway bought the Joyo Vintage Overdrive which just came today. I guess a Tubescreamer circuit basically? Has it been ripped apart here? Should I post a pic? I like it, it sounds decent but it definitely is a little bright I think...got an easy tweak for it if I post a pic?

Okay thanks.

This should go under Modern Stompbox Effects, but since they've been selling for $160+.......

Please post away. The FB fiasco has muddied the waters. I guess if it is FB branded it could go here, if it is Joyo branded it could go in the Modern subforum. Either way gut shots are always welcome.

I no longer have the pedal, but I took a shot when I modded one.

Its a ts808 clone, identical. Jrc 4558d chip.

Hi, Joyo Vintage Overdrive Gut shots here. Never did this before - only lost one screw so far!

Sounds pretty good, it's a little bright hree though, I basically have the Tone Pot rolled pretty much off to get it where I want it.
Got any ideas what to do. It sounds pretty good though...basic but it's the sound.

Excuse the flash please....thanks!

I almost forgot one shot...the goop is kind of peculiar, it almost looks like JIF peanut butter.

Hey thanks & sorry y'all...I posted in the wrong forum but I posted up some gut shots in the Modern Stompbox Effects 1975 Forum.

Hey cool on the mod...if you get time, can you check in to that Joyo thread and say what you did specifically? Maybe, kinda, pretty please? :P

Did you drop peanut butter on it and try and blame Joyo... :hmmm:

I can't beleive how decent these things look inside for the price, there not far off EHX quality.

LOL, nice touch. But for the real major mojo, Skippy is best (crunchy preferred).

I just got mine last week. I suspected that it was a TS808 clone base just on sound alone. Other than it looks like it is using 1/8 W (instaed of 1/4 or 1/2 W) resisters presumably due to space.

Has anyone traced it to confirm?

I am about ready to apply some of the standard TS mods that I like and I want to be sure of the component numbers are the same.

I have a Joyo Vintage Overdrive that i'd like to mod but need some help. I would like to try the bass boost mod that can be found here:

http://tubescreamermods.blogspot.com/20 ... html#start

Can anyone identify where the 0.047uF cap is on the Joyo board? Will this mod work with the Joyo board? I am competent at soldering and should be able to carry out the mod once I can identify the correct cap. Any ideas?

Do you think the Joyo is more 808 than TS9. A great stompbox for the money :D

Find the inverting input of the first op-amp and it should be attached to that.

Thanks for the quick response, my electronics knowledge is very limited and it doesn't make any sense to me - sorry. Given the guts sots above where on the board is this likely to be?

BTW there is also a guts shot of a board that has been modded above with a large green cap to the left of the jrc chip, what mod is this?

You're looking for a cap marked 473 connected to pin 2 of the op-amp chip. Either the square one or the one next to it on the left hand side of the board.
