thanks for the dominator!
the only things that bothers me though is that i couldn't get a 7.5k, 51 ohm resistor & 51nF capacitor here at our place in aklan, phils.
what could be a better option?
im not that good in electronics though. :/
a lil help would be much appreciated thank you in advance!

Use parts that are close to those values...
47Ohm, 47nF and maybe a 3.3k and a 4.7k in series instead of the 7.8k

That's not critical at all, some parts have quite large tolerances anyway.

7.5k = two 15k resistors in parallel

51R = two 100 ohm resistors in parallel

51n = two 100n capacitors in series

I don't know yet. I haven't played them (loud) enough to find out ;) They both transformed the Special 6 combo i have in my living room to an insane metal machine though :)

The triple wreck was faster to finish though, and its tone controls seem to be more versatile. I really like the first impression of them both though! I also built the Dr. Boogey, which is a whole other mahine. Not as tight but just as growling and aggressive.
Next on my list is the seventheaven. This month is dedicated to hi-gain builds :)
I brought them both to rehearsals yesterday. I liked the Dominator better for rythm stuff, and the Triple Wreck better for lead stuff. The Dominator seems raunchier while the Triple Wreck seems a bit fuller and smoother.

IMO the Dominator is very tight and easy to control, the tones I get from it are really well defined, and there's really very little idle hum from the pedal even though I have the gain turned up full.

If i had to go with just one, I'd go with the Dominator, but I'm glad I have both 8)

max1044 is a direct replacement, but the ICL7660S is much cheaper.
Note that the max input voltage of the max1044 is 9V, the icl7660s accepts 12V.

so it will work as the same as the 7660 with no sound difference then? hehe thanks! sorry for the noob question though

Hello! irombrus85 Is that Mundry's Dominatrix V1.2 and How about your Q1,Q2 ...Is it BF245 ?
I feel sorry for the delay is the same ... or you can use BF245A J201 but I used a piedini.Io attention to BF245A the first stage while the other is a J201 are personal tastes!

yeah! I have same problem
What would that be? My brain is boiling....
My dominator just a bad clean booster. :slap:

Hi, i've build the Dominatrix by using my V1.2 layout, it works ...not perfectly but it works.

there's a mistake in my layout: Q1 and Q2 must be turned 180° if you use two BF245, the position is ok if you use J201 or MPF102.

i used two BF245C but the sound wasn't good enoug (good distortion but....need more) , with two J201 the sound became pretty good,but i must test it on a good amp.

Which layout sounds better? (cause i saw some different components) Vero or Dominatrix?(maybe a stupid question :( )

With bf245 sounds equal to original(the original for me need a little more gain) or with j201 it sounds more agressive like openhaus/seventheaven?
how much more gain, 20%?
Thank you

first i used two BF245C instead of BF245A, C should be the higher gain version of 245 but they gain less than J201.

The distortion is good with both of Jfet but with J201 recover some ...."gheddu" or in other word: a little more aggressive and compact, my dominatrix still had some problems , it sound good but a little too "closed"...it should be more puchy...more "chugga-whagga", iby made some confrontation with ironbrush i've some voltage differences on 3/4 of positive input of quad opamp.

No, the A/B/C doesn't stand for gain, it denotes the IGS cut-off voltage range. All three are about the same gain, only at different drain currents. So if you change from C to A without adjusting the source resistor, you will see different gains because they are at different operating points.

dominator would be perfect with a footswitch boost like OKKO Diablo.
