sweet, i just added Igloo's last trace cut and the thing seems to work like my original.

I haven't tested the hfe of these AC128s i have in there, but someone has written 83 and 91 on them... Q1 and Q2 respectively

great work Igloo, now i'm gonna box it up!

The schematic on that Japanese site is the shitty one I redrew. How is anyone expected to read that?

has anyone had good results with a matched set of germanium transistors from smallbear in their fuzz factory clones ?

i know it's pretty hard to find so lo-gain ac128 in quantities but the old fuzz factories that are the best sounding imo used trannies with hfe in the region of 40. Less than that sounds even better

Most AF... are low gain Ge-trannies in the range 40-60.

AC128 are fine, hFE is between 100-140, just alter the R-values to decrease the amplification in that stages.

I have a bunch of AC128s with gains in the 30 to 60 range. I'm willing to trade them for some Russian germaniums. I can accurately test each one for gain and leakage so you know exactly what you're getting. The Russian transistors I'm most interested in are GT313 and GT308 and maybe GT411.

Ya know, i printed this list out some time ago and tried every setting and some are identical with a different name but most of 'em just plain suck.

A couple of the ff ones are ok,the psychedelic one and about 3 more are cool but i figure whoever compiled this list has the hots for zachie!
theres decent sounds to be had, but screw the list.

But i find the Ffactory thin as and an awful pedal stock tho, i bought all the hype about it (sucker), got it and knew straight away it needed to be modded post haste.

100uf in and out caps.......... Way better, still....its still not right tho, needs to be rid of the harshness thats in it.
way over rated pedal imho!

It's versatile! Real versatile. Nice interaction with your guitar volume too. Worth sticking on breadboard, even if it is just for a play around!

I don't see the fuss with fuzz pedals. They don't seem musical to me. Watching zvex's FF video, I didn't care for any sound that it made. Can anyone help me to appreciate the fuzz pedal?

Really? I remember his "Cliffs of Dover" and "Total Guitar DVD". I loved his tones, but don't remember anything as harsh as a FF. What track is a good example?

You just named one of them :)

Ive never thought of a good germanium Fuzz Face as "harsh".

heres a layout of his rig....

[smilie=a_holyshit.gif] Thanks for that. So the ZVFF is capable of such tones with a strat into a Plexi or FDR?

I didnt say that :)

A good germanium Fuzz Face is capable of it...a Fuzz Factory, well, thats a different beast altogether. Some people say it does classic Fuzz Face sounds, but I really didnt find any truly "convincing" settings. The Fuzz Factory is a cool pedal, but if you want classic Fuzz Face tones, build yourself a germanium Fuzz Face, tweak it, and have fun :)

Probably not. The Fuzz Factory is a noisemaker box - not something intended for a "sweet tone".

Maybe you should look at my Shizzle fuzz.... it's intended to actually sound good, not be a fuzzy mess.
